Inside the Future of Personalized Preventive Care: A Conversation with Dr. Michael Doney, Executive Medical Director of Biograph

Biograph

Biograph is redefining preventive care with personalized diagnostics, extending healthspan through data-driven, proactive medicine—starting with the launch of their clinic in NYC.

In the ever-evolving world of wellness, we’re seeing a major shift—from reactive sick care to proactive, personalized health optimization. Few companies are embodying this shift quite like Biograph, a New York-based precision diagnostics and preventive care clinic launched by Dr. Peter Attia, John Hering and emergency physician turned visionary founder, Dr. Michael Doney.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dr. Doney for an in-depth conversation about the founding story behind Biograph, how the company is setting a new standard for proactive medicine and what the future holds for this emerging leader in personalized care.

Read on for a lightly edited version of our conversation. And if you prefer to watch, check out the full video below:

🧠 Q&A with Dr. Michael Doney, Executive Director of Biograph

Ryan Frankel:

Tell me a bit about your journey. How did you go from emergency medicine to Executive Director of Biograph?

Dr. Michael Doney:

I practiced as a board-certified emergency medicine physician for many years and witnessed firsthand the limitations of our current healthcare system. I saw countless patients managing acute issues that stemmed from chronic, preventable conditions. This sparked my interest in preventive and precision medicine. I knew there had to be a more proactive, patient-centered approach—and that ultimately led me to my current work at Biograph.

Ryan:

What is the overall vision for Biograph?

Dr. Doney:

We’re building a member-centered platform that blends advanced diagnostics with personalized, actionable insights. Our long-term vision is to move beyond the current reactionary care model, democratizing access to best-in-class preventive care. We want to scale our innovations so more people can understand their risks and take action to improve their healthspan and lifespan.

Ryan:

Who is Biograph for today—and how do you see that evolving?

Dr. Doney:

Today, we’re working primarily with early adopters who are motivated to take control of their health. But our aim is to expand access and ultimately offer a more mass-market solution. Biograph is not just another longevity clinic—we’re a precision diagnostics platform focused on the major drivers of morbidity and mortality: cardiovascular disease, long-term brain health, metabolic dysfunction, cancer risk and a broader bucket of quality of life issues.

We currently offer two tiers of membership: Core, which provides a one-time comprehensive assessment, and Black, which delivers deeper insights and ongoing support.

Ryan:

Let’s talk about the science behind Biograph. How do you translate diagnostics into actionable outcomes?

Dr. Doney:

Under the guidance of our co-founder Dr. Peter Attia, we apply a rigorous, evidence-informed framework. Our platform collects over 1,000 data points from more than 30 evaluations. We use this to stratify risk and create a personalized care plan with the support of a multidisciplinary team—physicians, registered dietitians and exercise specialists. It’s not just about knowing your risks, it’s about having a roadmap to reduce them.

Ryan:

And you’ve launched in New York—what’s next in terms of expansion?

Dr. Doney:

Right now, our focus is on perfecting the member experience at our New York flagship. That said, we are working toward expanding both physically and digitally. We want to enable more people to access this level of care—whether through future clinics or virtual tools that help individuals understand their health in a more proactive, collaborative way.

Ryan:

Speaking of the member experience—what does the Biograph journey look like for a new client?

Dr. Doney:

It starts even before they arrive. We begin with a pre-visit video consultation to deeply understand a member’s medical history and goals. The in-clinic visit includes comprehensive testing and evaluations in a concierge-like setting. Afterward, we review results with the client and work with them through our clinical, nutritional, and exercise teams to create a fully customized health optimization plan.

Ryan:

What do most members say surprises them the most about the experience?

Dr. Doney:

Honestly, the depth of the personalization. From the diagnostic breadth to the member services support, people are struck by how integrated and actionable everything is. We turn insights into outcomes—and that’s rare in healthcare today.

Ryan:

What’s coming next? Any innovations or programs you’re excited about?

Dr. Doney:

We’re at an inflection point in healthcare. People are waking up to the limitations of traditional care. We’re working on several exciting initiatives that aim to make our model more accessible. Our goal is to continue raising awareness about the power of prevention and to help shift the standard of care industry-wide.
